DAY PATRIOTIC CONCERT TO FEATURE CVSM COMMUNITY SYMPHONIC BAND AND THE TOWNE
SINGERS ON MAY 27 The
CVSM Community Symphonic Band includes musicians from all walks of life,
including many professional musicians and educators, who enjoy playing
challenging concert band repertoire which runs the gamut from classical music to
jazz to concert marches. The
Towne Singers, a group of 27 singers, have become widely known for their high
quality of musicianship and performance. They
perform regularly throughout the area and have toured Europe several times. Under
the guidance of conductor David Wenerd, the band and chorus will perform a
rousing and challenging program of music including “The Invincible March”
and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Phillip Sousa; Allegro from
Mozart’s Horn Concerto (featuring Rebekah Pasquarella of Greencastle, PA on
French horn); “A Festival Prelude” by Alfred Reed; “Inchon” by Robert W.
Smith; “Russian Sailors’ Dance” by Reinhold Gliere; “Embraceable You”
by George Gershwin; “Home Stretch” by Leroy Anderson; “United We Stand”
by John Wason; “Beneath All the Stripes and Stars” by Warren Barker; “Hymn
to the Fallen” by Paul Lavender; “God Bless America” by Irving Berlin; and
an “Armed Forces Salute” which includes “The Caisson Song” (Army),
“Semper Paratus” (Coast Guard), “The Marine’s Hymn”, “The U.S. Air
Force,” and “Anchors Aweigh” (Navy). . |
