These classes are the first step toward bonding musically with your child. Activities include bouncing & rocking songs, finger plays, body awareness games, singing, moving, dancing, listening and playing instruments. All of these activities stimulate the brain, foster physical development, and cultivate listening skills.

Music Together ® (18 months – 5 years, caregiver present)

This class explores music in a warm, low-key atmosphere, encouraging families to make music a part of everyday life, setting in motion a life-long love of and participation in music. Basic music skills will be developed through singing, movement, and the use of rhythm instruments and other props. Parents-only class on Sept. 26 @ 7:00 PM.

Vocal Explorers (Age 5-8 years)

Explore all that your voice can do through song and vocal exploration. This class will teach vocal technique for the young singer through songs and music theory through solfege. This class culminates in a performance at the CVSM Recital on November 14th.

Piano Sampler (Ages 8-11)

Musikgarten Music Makers at the Keyboard (Ages 6-7 years)

This class lays the groundwork for keyboard success. The activities foster pride and excitement in making music both independently and with others. In addition to playing the piano, students will participate in dancing and drumming, singing, echoing patterns, and rhythm and melody dictation.

Acting is Elementary (Ages 6-8 & 9-11)

This class is designed to teach kids the basics of acting and improv through the us of theatre games. Students are encouraged to use their imaginations as they learn to build stories, create characters, practice teamwork, and gain self-confidence. A showcase will be performed by students for an audience at the recital on November 14th.

Guitar Sampler (Ages 8-12 years)

The perfect class for beginning level players. Instruction will include base tuning, 1st position melody playing, chords, rhythms, strumming, and ensemble playing. Students should provide their own guitar, acoustic preferred. However, a limited number are available to rent for use during the class.

Fiddle Sticks (Ages 10-14 years)

A string ensemble for advanced beginner – intermediate level string players. Students should have played their instrument for a year, and be able to read basic notation. Music reading will be included in the class for those who are Suzuki method students. Participants will learn the necessary skills for performing succesfully in an ensemble, including enhancing skills learned in school-based ensemble, and will perform at the CVSM recital on November 14.

Cumberbunds (Grades 4-8)

This children’s chorus will develop a child’s natural singing voice, cultivating a love of music in an entertaining as well as educational atmosphere. They will learn to sing comfortably throughout their range and will be introduced to part-singing and simple choreography. Memory skills and diction will be enhanced, and they will become increasingly more comfortable performing in front of an audience. The group will perform in a limited number of community functions, including a CVSM recital in December.
