Musicals From Scratch

With Maggie-Kate Coleman

A workshop for Teens & Adults

Join us for an "intensive one-week journey into the basics of writing for musical theatre with a focus on collaboration". Taught by Maggie-Kate Coleman, bookwriter and lyricist of POP! - winner of 3 Connecticut Critics Circle Awards and recipient of 7 Helen Hayes Award nominations.  POP! just wrapped up production at Pittsburgh's City Theatre in a production starring Anthony Rapp (star of the original Broadway production of "Rent") as Andy Warhol

This workshop covers the basics of writing for musical theatre. Whether your interest lies in composition, lyric writing, book writing, or all three, you'll be encouraged to find your own voice while merging your work with that of your collaborators. This workshop is for anyone (8th grade through adult) interested in creating new musical theatre! Open to writers, musicians, performers, theatre practitioners and theatre lovers with an interest in creating musicals from scratch, regardless of previous knowledge or experience.
