CVSM “All That Jazz” Dinner Dance and Auction

By February 10, 2017Uncategorized

Cumberland Valley School of Music (CVSM) will host its Annual Dinner Dance and Auction on February 25th at The Orchards in Chambersburg, PA.  The event, themed “All That Jazz,” kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a champagne welcome, followed by a three-course meal by Chef Mike Kalathas, live and silent auctions, raffle and music and entertainment provided by the Kenny i band. Wine and beer are complimentary with the purchase of a ticket.

“This year’s dinner dance features great food and music with some theme-inspired additions to enhance the evening,” said Sue McLaughlin, Dinner Dance Committee Chair.  Diane Miller and a team of young dancers will be on hand to demonstrate and teach jazz- inspired dances such as the Charleston.  “The committee has striven to transform the Orchards Ball Room into a Jazz Club.  ‘All That Jazz” will be a successful fundraiser for CVSM and an evening of great fun for our attendees,” McLaughlin added.

Festivities will include live and silent auctions, a raffle of an 18 karat white gold lady’s ring set with a dark green chrome diopside and .36ct. total weight of full-cut Diamonds. The value is $1350.00 donated by Ludwig Jewelers of Chambersburg.  Items available for bidding at the auction include: a private one hour plane ride for three – route of your choice; a Tregan Shaman Standard Vintage White Electric Guitar and a Vintage White electric bass; a Gettysburg overnight weekend package; Ticket Passports to Totem Pole Playhouse; framed photography; locally handcrafted pottery; gift baskets for lovers of whisky, beer, and coffee; learn to ski passes to Whitetail; and various baskets filled with toys, books, puzzles, and games for children of all ages, along with other items too numerous to mention.

New auction items are being received daily, and a completed list will be posted on the CVSM website closer to the event date. John Kohler of Gateway Gallery Auction will serve as auctioneer for the short live auction.  All proceeds benefit CVSM, a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization.  Cash, checks and major credit cards will be accepted.

“All That Jazz” is so much more than a celebration; it is about raising funds to enhance our musical community. The live auction will also include a “Fund-a-Need” component, where attendees can pledge contributions to the school’s scholarship fund and offsite collaborations.  CVSM awards both need-based and merit-based scholarships to area students and provides music education opportunities throughout the community.

Tickets are $95.00 per person or $700.00 for a table for eight.  Tickets can be purchased now by contacting the school at (717) 261-1220 or online at www.cvsmusic.org/product/dinner-dance. You may also look through the auction items through the same website link.

CVSM is marking its 21st year of hosting the event. F&M Trust is continuing as a dedicated corporate sponsor, a role it adopted with the event’s inception in 1996.  The Dinner Dance & Auction is now CVSM’s largest fundraising event of the year.
