Nancy Reed (vocalist) is the daughter of a jazz pianist and an opera singer and grew up in Brooklyn amid the musically rich culture of New York City. Also an accomplished bass player, Nancy has performed and recorded with such jazz greats as Phil Woods, Slide Hampton, David “Fathead” Newman and Bob Dorough and has toured Japan, The United States and Mexico. A favorite of other vocalists as well, Nancy has sung back up on numerous CDs, movie sound tracks, and commercial jingles. Good jazz singers come in two kinds; those who say, “listen to me sing” and those who say “listen to this beautiful song”. The great singers are the ones that convey the message of the song. Nancy Reed is one of those singers. Blessed with a gorgeous tone and pitch, impeccable rhythm and an instinct for true jazz phrasing, she always finds the essence of each song and brings that to the listener.
