Monday, February 22, 7:00 PM - Anna Showalter Recital - Thomson Alumnae Chapel, Wilson College. A piano recital presented by CVSM alumna and former merit award winning pianist Anna Showalter, in preparation from her graduation from Goshen College this year with a degree in piano performance. Saturday, February 27, 3:30 PM workshop, 7:30 PM concert - Renaissance City Winds -Thomson Alumnae Chapel, Wilson College. This renowned wind ensemble will present a free afternoon workshop/clinic discussing the intricacies of performing chamber music and an evening concert as part of the Wilson College Performing Arts series. Tuesday, March 30, 8:00 PM – CVSM Community String Orchestra Concert – Thomson Alumnae Chapel, Wilson College. Sponsored by the Cumberland Valley School of Music and directed by Herman Hopple, the orchestra will perform a diverse program. If you play violin, viola, cello, or string bass and would like to be a part of our string orchestra, please call CVSM for more information. Rehearsals start March 2. Sunday, April 18, 3:00 PM – “Beautiful Dreamer” Musicale – This musicale is being hosted by Zachary and Marissa Burt at their 19th century home in Greencastle. The event will feature the songs of 19th century Pennsylvania composer Stephen Foster, performed by Roy Justice, voice and guitar, as well as piano selections by host Zach Burt, piano. Admission $45 includes refreshments.
Thursday, April 29, 7:00 PM – Cumberbunds Concert featuring a tribute to American Music – Thomson Alumnae Chapel, Wilson College. A diverse program, featuring the CVSM children’s chorus performing songs from the Boradway show “George M.” and other popular American songs. FREE
Sunday, May 2, 3:00 PM – CVSM Awards Concert – Thomson Alumnae Chapel, Wilson College. This concert will feature some of the best young musical talent in the area, including Merit Award Winners who recently competed in categories of voice, piano, and instrumental music as well as graduating seniors who are going on to pursue careers in the performing arts. Friday, May 14, 7:00 PM – Goretti Student Performing Arts Concert – St. Maria Goretti High School Choir, Dance Class, Musical Theater Class, Aciting Improv Workshop, and Rock Band, under the direction of CVSM, Beaver Creek Country Club, Hagerstown. $5
Sunday, May 16, 12:30 PM – “Jazz Brunch” Musicale – This brunch musicale is being hosted by Andrew and Sally Sussman at their home in Waynesboro and will feature internationally acclaimed jazz artists David Leonhardt, piano, and Nancy Reed, vocalist, who have performed with jazz greats Stan Getz, Phil Woods, “Fathead” Newman, Herbie Mann, and many others. Here they will be performing jazz standards as well as several songs written by Andrew. Admission $45 includes brunch.
Monday, May 31, 7:30 PM – CVSM Community Symphonic Band Memorial Day Concert – Chambersburg Memorial Park Bandshell. With nearly 100 members, this band, led by David Wenerd, will perform a diverse program of challenging patriotic and concert band music. (Based on a limited time commitment, the band performs twice a year and rehearses several weeks prior to each performance. If you play a wind, brass, or percussion instrument and would like to be a part of our band, please call the office for more information – rehearsals start May16.) Participation in the band and attendance at the concert are both FREE
Saturday, June 5, 4 – 7:00 PM – 2nd Annual CVSM Neighborhood Chefs’ Walk – Local chefs Monica Kelso, Ron Macker, Dave Munson, Roger Tappen, and restaurateur Tom Boock will prepare their culinary specialties and serve at street-side booths as attendees stroll along Alexander Avenue in Chambersburg, sampling the eclectic menus and listening to a wide variety of musical performances. Admission: $45 if purchased before April 30 ($55 after May 1).
CVSM STUDENT RECITALS are to be held at Thomson Alumnae Chapel, Wilson College on March 25 and May 4, 10 & 20. All recitals start at 7:00 PM. FREE
