CVSM Elegant Winter Dinner Dance & Auction
–held at
Chambersburg Country Club,
Scotland, PA, this elegant black tie optional affair will feature delicious
French food and wines, a live band playing music for dancing, a wide variety of
live and silent auction items, and a raffle. Admission of $85 includes wine,
beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. A vegetarian option is also available.

Saturday, March 17, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM – Performathon 2012 – Hundreds of CVSM students are featured in hours of continuous performances at Thomson Chapel, Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA. Students will be performing alone as well as in various ensembles and groups. FREE.
Sunday, March 18, 3:00 PM – CVSM “St Patrick’s Day Extended” Musicale – hosted by Michael and Shelby McGinley and Mike and Susan McGinley at 1175 The Terrace, Hagerstown, MD, this lively musicale will feature singer-guitarist Kevin James performing authentic Irish music, while bagpiper Mark Knox will greet guests as they arrive. Admission of $50 includes Guinness and other Irish beers along with traditional musicale refreshments of hors d’oeuvres, wine, and non- alcoholic beverages. Advance reservations required.
Tuesday, March 27, 8:00 PM – CVSM Community String Orchestra – Thomson Alumnae Chapel- Wilson College, Chambersburg- Directed by Herman Hopple, the Orchestra will perform a diverse program. (If you play violin, viola, cello, or string bass and would like to be a part of our string orchestra, please call the office for more information.) Participation in the orchestra and attendance at the concert are both FREE.
Sunday, April 22, 3:00 PM – CVSM Awards Concert – Thomson Chapel, Wilson College. This concert will feature some of the best young musical talent in the area, including Merit Award Winners who recently competed in categories of voice, piano, and instrumental music as well as graduating seniors who are going on to pursue careers in the performing arts. FREE.
Sunday, April 29, 3:00 PM – CVSM “Opera, Broadway and Popera” Musicale – hosted by Hank and Jan Guarriello at their magnificent home in Greencastle. Singers include: Elisabeth Turchi, a coloratura soprano, has performed in the US and abroad singing leading opera roles, oratorio and concert literature. Beth Jacobs, soprano, sings frequently in the Harrisburg area and recently was guest soloist with the Mansfield University Chorus. Jason Widney, baritone, performs with the Baltimore Opera and other venues in the Baltimore area. Christyan Seay has sung in numerous venues in the Harrisburg Area including the Harrisburg Opera. The talented group will sing arias, duets, trios, and quartets from Opera, Broadway, and “Popera” (more popular music sung in an operatic style). Valerie Merriman will accompany at the piano. Admission $65 includes lavish refreshments plus wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Advance reservations required.
Thursday, May 3, 7:00 PM – Cumberbunds Concert – Thomson Chapel, Wilson College. A diverse program, featuring our children’s chorus, under the direction of Jeffrey Noll. FREE.
Sunday, May 20, 3:00 PM – CVSM “Great American Songbook” Musicale – hosted by Frank Hayman at his beautiful home in Mercersburg which is listed on the Historic Registry. This is the home where Harriett Lane, niece of James Buchanan and mistress of the White House during his presidency, was born in 1830. Once inside the front door, you are standing in the gold-leafed, arched entrance hall. The home is full of magnificent antique furniture, opulent fabrics, and an incomparable collection of art not frequently seen in this area. In addition, it has a Steinway grand piano which will be expertly played by Brian Helman. He has chosen a program taken from the Great American Songbook and will be joined by Herm Hopple, bass, Sam Hepfer, drums, and soprano Paula Hepfer. Admission $50 includes an assortment of refreshments plus wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Advance reservations required.
Monday, May 28, 7:30 PM – Memorial Day Patriotic Concert featuring the CVSM Community Symphonic Band – under the direction of Tim Gotwald – Chambersburg Memorial Park Bandshell. This concert will feature a program of patriotic music and concert music. (If you play a wind, brass, or percussion instrument and would like to be a part of our band) Participation in the band and attendance at the concert are both FREE. Saturday, June 2, 4:00 –7:00 PM – CVSM Neighborhood Chefs’ Walk – Renowned local chefs Roger Tappen, Dave Munson, and Grayson Bowman, and restaurateurs Tom Boock (The Cottage) and Scott Vorhees and Nick Broadwater (Norland Pub) will be preparing and serving their unique culinary specialties and serve at street-side booths as attendees stroll along Alexander Avenue in Chambersburg, sampling the eclectic menus and listening to a wide variety of musical performances. Admission: $50 if purchased before April 30, 2012 ($60 after May 1), or Special Patron Price of $70 includes a listing in the program. Advance reservations required – this event has sold out the past three years! CVSM Student Recitals are to be held at Thomson Chapel, Wilson College on May 1, 7, 17, and 22. All recitals start at 7:00 PM. Admission is FREE.
