Dear Friends of Goretti: We would like to invite you to join us at two very special events, celebrating the new performing arts programs being provided by the Cumberland Valley School of Music at St. Maria Goretti High School. Each of these receptions will be held in a beautiful private home, on a Sunday afternoon starting at 3:00 pm. Each will feature a slightly different musical theme, with live music, good company, sweet and savory hors d’oeuvres, and wine and non-alcoholic beverages. But best of all, by attending, you will be supporting the continuation and growth of CVSM arts programs at Goretti! For convenience, we have scheduled one reception in Hagerstown and one in Shepherdstown. We are requesting a minimum $35 donation per person for each reception. Of course, donations of all sizes are welcome, and if you are able to give more it will be gratefully accepted. Likewise, if you are unable to attend a reception, we still would appreciate your support. All donations received will be used for expenses necessary to run arts programs at St. Maria Goretti High School, such as paying qualified faculty or purchasing equipment, music, instruments, and supplies. The first will be on November 18, 2007 at the home of Wayne and Paula Dennis, 1165 The Terrace, Hagerstown, MD The second will be on January 6, 2008 at the home of Davitt and Kathryn McAteer, 4704 Kearneysville Pike, Shepherdstown, WV These are exciting times at Goretti! Students are enthusiastically involved in choir, musical theater class, dance, choreography, jazz ensemble, and our innovative Introduction to Music class where students learn first hand from a wide range of professional musicians and music educators. There is an after school voice class and private lessons in voice, piano, and violin, and the String Ensemble will be starting soon. Two Performing Arts concerts have been scheduled for December 2 (at Beaver Creek Country Club, Hagerstown) and May 16. We will soon schedule a Cabaret Performance of the Musical Theater class. And of course another school musical is being planned for April. We are committed to developing programs which will enable Goretti students to experience the performing arts for years to come. But to continue to offer these programs and add new ones, we need your help. Please join us at one or both of the receptions above. Thank you and we hope to see you soon! Sincerely, Sincerely,
Andrew Sussman Susan McGinley Goretti Parent and Executive Director Chair, Parents for the Performing Arts Cumberland Valley School of Music St. Maria Goretti High School
