ST. MARIA GORETTI HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS AND CUMBERLAND VALLEY SCHOOL OF MUSIC PRESENT “ANYTHING GOES” – APRIL 11 & 12
HAGERSTOWN. Once again the St. Maria Goretti Players are teaming with the Cumberland Valley School of Music to present their spring music Anything Goes. Highlighted by Cole Porter’s magical musical score, the show is touted as a revival of “the age-old tale of Boy-Meets-Girl and the complications which ensue.” Some of Porter’s featured numbers include It’s De-Lovely, Friendship, I Get A Kick Out Of You, All Through The Night, Anything Goes, You’re The Top and Blow, Gabriel, Blow. Directed by Bonnie Pratt, this show is again being assisted by teachers from the Cumberland Valley School of Music, including Gerald Kowallis (music director), Rebecca Sariano (choreographer), and Brian Helman (pianist). The spring musical is set for April 11 and 12 at Hagerstown Community College’s Kepler Theater with the curtain rising at 7:30 pm both evenings. Many local students will take the stage when the curtain rises. Goretti draws students from the tri-state area, including Hagerstown, Frederick, Chambersburg, Waynesboro, Greencastle, Martinsburg, Shepherdstown, and many other communities.
Krissy DiMercurio plays Reno Sweeney who carries a torch for Tanner Beal as Billy Crocker. Hope Harcourt, portrayed by Charlotte Riggs, and her mother (Gabriella Schiro) bring additional complications to an already convoluted plot. Sweeney’s entourage of Angels include Mary McGinley, Emily Steiner, Nicola Sussman, Maggie Noe, Rebecca Gonzalez, Aly Cushwa, Jessica Collins, and Maria Jones. Zoe D’heedene as Bonnie sweeps Andrew Mozdy’s Moonface Martin off his feet while the crew, led by Rebecca Oney, tries to apprehend Public Enemy #13. As Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, Patrick McAteer charms the ladies while aggravating the steward portrayed by John Holliman throughout the voyage. Andrew Sayers creates chaos and comedy for Adam Marinelli, Justin Winslow, Mary Saum, Gabrielle McDermott, Christian Rock, David Forbes, Victoria Bittorf, Cassie Rzompf and Catherine Stahl throughout the voyage.
Founded in 1990, Cumberland Valley School of Music is a non-profit member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, with 53 faculty members teaching over 600 students a year at locations in Chambersburg (Wilson College and the Montessori Academy), Mercersburg (Mercersburg Academy),Waynesboro (St. Andrew School and the Fairview Avenue Church of the Brethren), and Hagerstown (Goretti). At Goretti CVSM is teaching several classes including choir, musical theater, dance and choreography, Introduction to Music, Jazz Ensemble, and String Ensemble. At other locations CVSM sponsors a children’s chorus, community symphonic band, community string orchestra, jazz big band, and numerous workshops, classes, summer camps, concerts, and special events. Scholarships for all programs are offered based on financial need and merit.
