CVSM SHOWCASE CONCERT ON NOVEMBER 12 TO FEATURE SOME OF THE AREA’S TOP MUSICIANS

CHAMBERSBURG.  The Cumberland Valley School of Music will present a special Showcase Concert on Sunday, November 12 at 3:00 pm in Thomson Alumnae Chapel, Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA.  The concert will feature some of the best musical talent in the Cumberland Valley and covers a wide variety of musical styles from classical and opera to musical theater, jazz, and popular American song. 

            Some highlights will include soprano Lisa Turchi, the Argot String Quartet (from Shenandoah Conservatory, featuring Flor Maryory Serrano (from Venezuela), Violin; Cynthia Paola Saucedo, (from Mexico), Violin; Jason Diggs (from Baltimore, Md), Viola; Camilo Perez-Mejia (from Colombia), Cello), saxophonist Jennifer Stouffer, guitarist Geoffrey Weeks, organist Pamela Wert, pianist Diana Reinert, the CVSM Jazz Quintet (featuring flutist-saxophonist   Tim Gotwald, trombonist David Wenerd, pianist Andrew Sussman, bassist Herm Hopple, and drummer Sam Hepfer), a special alumni spotlight featuring flutist Amanda Sick (a Senior at Temple University and a three time CVSM Merit Award Winner), a performance by a CVSM Vocal Ensemble (featuring our award winning students), and other surprises. 

        General admission tickets for the Showcase Concert can be purchased in advance for only $12 each, or will be available for $15 at the door.  Students (grades K - 12) are only $8 each, and currently enrolled CVSM students are admitted free.  Patron tickets (which include seating in a reserved section of the theatre and a listing in the program book) are $30 per person.  Tickets are available at the CVSM office in Thomson Hall on the Wilson College campus or by calling CVSM at (717)-261-1220. 

            Cumberland Valley School of Music is non-profit member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, with 53 faculty members teaching  nearly 600 students a year at Wilson College, Chambersburg; the Montessori Academy, Chambersburg; the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro; St. Andrew School, Waynesboro; the Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg; and St. Maria Goretti High School, Hagerstown, MD.  In addition, the school sponsors a community symphonic band, a concert jazz band, a community string orchestra, a youth chorus; presents numerous concerts, workshops, camps, and special events throughout the year; and provides outreach programs and scholarships to area children who are at-risk or in financial need.
