YOUTH ARTS INITIATIVE April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, May 1, 2007 In conjunction with the Capitol Theatre Center and Danza Antiqua, CVSM will conduct “A Day with the Arts” reaching out to 626 students in Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grades in the Chambersburg Area School District. The theme this year is the life and times of Scott Joplin (1890-1917), a prominent African American musician influential in the Ragtime era. Each day, a group of approximately 90 students will participate in music, dance, and visual arts activities. While participation in the program is reserved for these CASD students, a short performance featuring students and instructors will take place each day in the Wood Center Theatre at the Capitol Theatre at 10:45 AM which is free and open to the public. Below is information and photos from last year's Youth Arts Initiative, celebrating the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
